It is with great sadness that the family of Michael D. Rea announces his passing on October 27, 2022.
Michael "Mickey", "Chop-Chop", was born to Virginio and Frances (nee: Lema) Rea on April 10, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan.
He leaves behind his sister, Virginia "Jean" (nee: Rea) Bodenstedt, his nieces, Kelly Rea-Tedesco and Amber Cannella, his great-nieces, Gabriella and Daniella Tedesco, and Cara and Alicia Cannella, and his many friends within the deaf community.
Michael is predeceased by his parents, Virginio and Jean Rea, and his nephew, Brian Bodenstedt.
Though born deaf, Mike always did exactly what he wanted to do and achieved anything he set his mind to. His disability never stopped him from living a full life in excellent health, always strong in mind and body, always obstinate when he wanted to do something. We will miss you so much. See you on the other side.
A memorial service will take place to honor Mike's life on Saturday, November 19, 11:00 a.m. at the St. John's Deaf Center, 16103 Chesterfield Ave., Eastpointe, MI 48021 with lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mike's name to the St. John's Deaf Center, 16103 Chesterfield Ave., Eastpointe, MI 48021.
Please share a memory, thought, or prayer with the family here on Mike's Tribute Wall.
