James A. Merchel

James A. Merchel, age 71, passed away January 9, 2023.

Jim was the beloved husband of Roxanne Lonczynski; loving father of Laura (Chris) Sloan and Kevin (Abby) Lonczynski; grandpa of Layla and Layne; dear brother of Michael (Kathy) Merchel, the late Tom Merchel, and the late Bob Merchel. Jim was also survived by 6 nephews and 1 niece, Olivia, as well as a great-nephew, Dylan Michael.

Jim was very committed to his business while he had it. He owned a pool store and loved every minute of running it. His brother called him the "night watchman" there at the store because he was there so often. When he wasn't at the store, Jim liked to fish, especially ice fishing, and play all sorts of games of chance, he would go to the casino often, the horse races, and card games. Jim would also like to get away sometimes. He mainly loved to head down to Florida and see the ocean.

Jim’s life will be celebrated by family and friends and his memory will live on always.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wysocki Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
