Gilbert VanEckoute

Gilbert VanEckoute, age 94, passed away April 25, 2020, as a result of the Covid-19 virus.

Gilbert was the beloved husband of the late Nancy VanEckoute; Loving father of James (Patricia) VanEckoute, Kirk (Marlene) VanEckoute, Jeffrey VanEckoute, and Kandi Chiles; devoted grandfather to 9 grandchildren, and a wonderful Great Papa to 9 great grandchildren.

He was involved for many years with the Fraser flying club enjoying building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He also loved social dancing and continued it into his late 80’s.  Gilbert was also very proud to have served his county in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of WWII.

The family is planning a graveside memorial service with military honors 12:00 p.m. Noon on Saturday, August 29, at Oakview Cemetery, 1032 N. Main Street, Royal Oak, MI 48067.
