Thac Chi Lam, born on May 1, 1954, in Saigon, Vietnam, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at Harper Hospital Hospice in Detroit, Michigan. He led a life marked by resilience and devotion, always anchoring his existence in love for his family.
Thac embarked on a new chapter of life when he immigrated to the United States in 1990, where he became a proud citizen in 1995. His journey was not without challenges; he dedicated three years of service in the military of South Vietnam before the fall of Saigon in 1975. In the U.S., he worked diligently in various capacities, including dishwasher, school janitor, and nail salon technician, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to supporting his family.
Thac was a kind and reserved man, known for his deep love for his parents, Duong Lam and Hat Diep, who preceded him in death, as well as for his sisters: Thoa Lam, Huy Lam, and Thuoc Lam; and brothers: Toai Lam, Hao Lam, Due Lam, Doanh Lam, Reverend Hoang Lam, and Nhieu Lam. His family meant everything to him, and he also cherished his many nieces and nephews.
In 2022, Thac embraced his faith, being baptized into the Catholic Church, an event that brought him joy and solace. His life took a challenging turn due to health issues, arising initially from a stroke in March 2017. Over the years, he encountered various health challenges. In the end, Thac had a tragic and lethal accident, having choked on a piece of food during lunch. After reviving him, his health only declined and he passed on January 22, 2026, under Hospice care at Harper Hospital in Detroit.
Despite the struggles he faced, Thac remained a figure of strength and dedication, steadfast in his love for family and resilience in life's trials. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.
