Lucy Worthington, born on December 16, 1969, just before her twin brother John Worthington, left this world on January 3, 2026, touching the lives of many through her resilience and unwavering spirit.
She graduated from Athens High School in 1990, where she cherished her time spent in Home Economics and playing the violin alongside her best friend, Sandy Virgwa.Throughout her life, Lucy faced numerous challenges including Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis. Despite these physical limitations and a speech impediment, she demonstrated remarkable determination and intelligence, striving to make a living and support herself. Her relentless spirit shone brightly, allowing her to overcome obstacles and find joy in her passions.
Lucy's warmth and kindness were evident in her interests and hobbies. She derived great pleasure from babysitting, shopping, pet-sitting, and cooking. A devoted fan of the "I Love Lucy" show and the cooking channel, she frequently gathered with friends and family to enjoy cherished moments such as watching the Super Bowl or cheering on the Lions. Those who knew her would agree that she was an excellent listener and a reliable source of support, always ready to lend an ear or help prepare a meal.
Lucy took immense pride in her role as a mother. In 1994, she welcomed her beloved daughter, Victoria Hauck, into the world with Randy Hauck. Victoria was her pride and joy, and Lucy's love for her was boundless.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Victoria Hauck; brothers David (Debbie) Coddington and John R (Michelle) Worthington; nephew John R (Krystle Hynes) Worthington II; niece Christa Worthington; stepmother Geneva Worthington; and half-sisters Joyce (Billy) Capps, Viki (John) Zettel, Toni (Tim) Lawson, and Meri Adrian. Additionally, she leaves behind her treasured cat, Ozzy, along with countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever remember her vibrant spirit and compassionate heart.
Lucy was preceded in death by her grandparents, George Burnett and Grace Burnett; her parents John Worthington and Rebecca Burnett; her brother, George Grace; and half-sister, Tami (Susie) Worthington.
A Visitation to honor Lucy will be held on January 18, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 5:00 PM at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home, located at 29440 Ryan Rd, Warren, MI 48092.
