Larry Gene Shovan, born on May 25, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Warren, Michigan. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, particularly to his family, who were the center of his world.
Larry had a distinguished career as a Tool & Die specialist with Visioneering, where he played an integral role in building plane parts for Boeing Aerospace. His contribution to the aerospace industry was not only significant but also a reflection of his meticulous nature and his commitment to quality work.
Family was paramount to Larry; he cherished the time spent with his wife, Barbara E. Shovan, and took immense joy in his role as a father and grandfather. His daughter, Jessica Brown, along with her husband Thomas Brown and their son, Connor Brown, brought him great happiness. Larry’s stepson, Jason Shovan, and his wife Alecia, enriched his life as well, along with their daughter, Madison Roeske, her husband Brandon, and grandson James Shovan.
Larry's joy extended to his siblings, including his brother David Shovan and his wife Kim, and his brother Bobby Shovan. He held dear the moments spent with his niece, Deanna Shovan, and nephew, Tim Quinn, who together with his wife Crinthia, brought added warmth to his life. He also cherished the company of his great-nephew, Connor James, and his cousin, Linda Shovan Chambers.
Larry's love for family was mirrored in the fond memories created during the Shovan family reunions at Algonac State Park, where laughter and togetherness flourished. He was known not only for his family ties but also as a passionate sports enthusiast and an avid woodworker, hobbies that allowed him to express his creativity and share enjoyable moments with loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerold and Isabelle Shovan, and his brothers Ronnie Shovan and Rick Shovan, along with stepson Jerome Shovan, all of whom he remembered fondly throughout his life.
Larry Gene Shovan will be deeply missed by his family and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and love. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
