Kelly Ann Dubiel, affectionately known as Kel, was born on March 11, 1973, and left this world peacefully on November 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved surgical technologist, whose zest for life was evident in everything she did. Following her passion for healthcare, she graduated with two associate degrees from Macomb Community College in General Education and Surgical Technology, dedicating her career to caring for others.
Kel's spirit was truly larger than life. She lived every day to the fullest, grounding herself in the love of her family, friends, and unforgettable experiences. Her personality shone brightly in every gathering, whether it was during the excitement of football Sundays, the camaraderie of Superbowl parties, or the thrill of four-wheeling and snowmobiling during family trips up-north. These cherished memories will resonate in the hearts of her loved ones, painting a vivid picture of the joy she brought into their lives.
Family meant everything to Kelly, especially her grandchildren, whom she regarded as her proudest accomplishments. Each moment spent with her grandkids—Noah, Kelsi, Ezra, Giovanni, Vincenzo, and Addy—was a treasure, filling her life with joy and laughter. She enjoyed spending her time with them and sharing her passions, creating lasting memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Kelly's love for her family extended not only to her children—Alan (Coty) Houston, Ashley Houston, and Janeen (Michael Evans) Dubiel—but also to her siblings, Audrey (Mike) Vigh and Robert "Rob" Custer. She shared a deep bond with her parents, Robert and Gladys Custer, who nurtured her adventurous spirit. Kel's family was also enriched by the memory of her father-in-law, Walter Dubiel, and the love shared with her cousin, Cindy, who will be remembered fondly.
Throughout her life, Kel embraced her hobbies with enthusiasm. Whether playing bingo and euchre at the campground or simply enjoying the beauty of nature at the cabin, she sought joy in every moment. Her vivacious personality, combined with the many challenges she faced, displayed a grace that was uniquely hers, even if the results were less than graceful, she carried herself with humor and resilience.
As we gather to honor Kelly Ann Dubiel's remarkable life, we invite you to remember her not just with sorrow, but with the joy and laughter she brought into our lives. Visitation will take place on December 5, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home in Warren, MI. Her spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who loved her, reminding us all to embrace life with the same fervor she did.
Donations to Kelly's family will be gladly accepted.
