Horace George Eldridge, fondly known as George, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 23, 1953, George lived a life marked by passion, resilience, and devotion to his family and friends.
George's professional journey led him to work on the production line at Chrysler, a role he fulfilled with dedication until his retirement. His early life was shaped by significant loss, as he and his sister, Patrica "Patty" Theile, tragically lost their parents in an automobile accident in 1955. Fortunately, George found a loving home with his aunt and uncle, Henry Richard Klecha and Ruth H. Klecha. His sister Patty Theile was later adopted at the age of seven by Henry and Delia Bergman of Port Huron, Michigan.
George proudly served in the Army from the early 1970s to 1980, where he was involved in communications—a period he looked back on with honor. After his military service, he devoted time to caring for his family, traveling to different states to support his loved ones. Notably, he made his journey to California to assist his mother and grandmother, Granny, before visiting family in Wyoming.
His hobbies reflected a creative spirit, particularly seen in his wood carvings of horses and other figures. In recent years, following the passing of his beloved wife Pat in 2024, George enjoyed socializing at the Town Village Retirement Homes on Dobry Drive in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He found joy in watching movies and playing bingo, surrounding himself with friends and community.
George is survived by his son, Tom Eldridge; daughter, Florence "Flower" Kawana; and grandchildren May, Mia, and Gavin, as well as three great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his siblings Patty (David) Thiele, Carol Freeman, and Michael Klecha, along with a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces including Thomas, Jimmy, Matthew, Angela, Christine, JT, Brianna, Sabrina, Raymond, Cody, and Brooke.
George will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the cherished memories he created with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM when the Funeral Service for George will begin. Visitation and Funeral Service will be at Wysocki Funeral Home, located at 29440 Ryan Rd, Warren, MI 48092.
