Curtis Jones was born on March 11, 1942 to the union of Walter and Della Jones in Montgomery, Alabama. Curtis found the Lord at an early age and often listened to gospel music. Curtis graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, MI and went on to become a medic in the Army for four years. He was stationed in Germany where he had his first boat ride across the Atlantic Ocean.
He married Mary Jones on February 6, 1965 and would have celebrated 57 years together this year. Curtis was a devoted husband and father and worked hard to make a good life for his family. He retired from Standard Distributing Inc. at age 63 where he started as a truck driver and went on to become warehouse supervisor and union steward. He enjoyed playing on his company’s baseball and bowling teams although they usually came in last place. He also loved barbequing, watching sports and taking care of his pets and the neighborhood squirrels, birds and cats.
Curtis made his transition on January 12, 2022 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Jones, step daughter Elizabeth Bayones and sister Willette Rice. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Jones and their four children, Richard (Sue) Holstine, Michael (Kaycie) Jones, Ardella Jones and Christine (William) Butler, as well as his brother Calvin (Helen) Jones, his sisters Priscilla (Robert) Blackwell and Wannetta Page, seven grandchildren (Sunshine, Cathy, Michael II, Nicholas, Brandon, Karalynn and Heaven) and one great grandchild (Trey), along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
