Carol Sue Coombs

Carol Sue Coombs, affectionately known as Susie, was born on May 28, 1948, in Canton, Ohio. She left this world unexpectedly on January 13, 2026, in Warren, Michigan, at the age of 77 after a brief illness.

Susie was a remarkable woman who spoke her mind with honesty while always conveying her love for those around her. She had a heart of gold, dedicating herself to helping others. Her greatest pride came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.

A beloved mother, she is survived by her son, Leonard Burgess; daughters, Kimberly (Patrick) Culter and Sabrina Burgess; and son Geronimo Locklear. Susie adored her grandchildren: Jessy (Audrey), Carolyn (Michael), Tyler, Andrew, Lonnie, Joe, Lillie, Jaxx, Ian, and John. Her joy was further enriched by her great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Lincoln, Marguerite, Kinsley, Walter, and Camden. She shared a special bond with her sister, Sandra (Sam), along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and kindness.

Susie found great joy in decorating her home for Christmas, a holiday she cherished. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and poker with friends, and occasionally took pleasure in visiting the casino. She was loved by all her friends—each person who crossed her path became a lifelong friend.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Lonnie, along with sisters Edna, Brenda, Shirley, and Linda, and brothers Billy, Sonny, and Stevie.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home located at 29440 Ryan Rd, Warren, MI 48092. A funeral service will follow the next day, Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the same location. Gathering before the service will start at 10:00 a.m.
